Origin of Nab, Meaning of Nab

Origin: In researching the French-Canadian side of my family, I have located the surname Bernabe. All of the ancestors I am researching were born in Quebec, Canada, in and near St. Thomas De Pierreville. For now, we can say that the name is of French origin, and that there was a concentration of at least a family branch of Bernabes in Quebec between 1830 and 1900.

Branches of the framilies spread rapidly over the countries of Ireland,Scotland,France and britain, Usually transplanted by wars between these countries and by alliances. The name is to be found in the dooms day book,(the first english census) conducted by Willian the conquerer in 1066.
